Givers versus takers!

This is old news (from the 2012 elections).   Illustrated below (in red) are the 10 states with the highest percentage of non-taxpayers in the country.   Except for New Mexico and Florida, all the other "red" states voted for Romney!   Were these other 8 states part of Romney's 47% "and living on government handouts"?

Yes they were...but they just didn't know it and voted for Romney anyway!   I'm just sayin'!

Those states highlighted in light blue have the lowest percentage of non-taxpayers.   Maybe it's time to leave Connecticut and move to Florida or New Mexico?   I'm just sayin'!

Dear Mr. Pistorius...aka..."Blade Runner"...

I don't know where to begin.   Never heard of you before the 2012 Olympics.   And then there you were!   A first!   Awesome!   Quite honestly I idealized you and what you overcame and your accomplishments.   I think the whole world did too.   I KNOW the whole world did.   Now I'm at a loss for words.

People are already identifying you as the South African version of O.J. Simpson.   O.J. was not a worldwide phenomenon...and he was guilty as hell.   You ARE a worldwide phenomenon!   And I hope you're not guilty!   I really do...but at this point, it's hard to believe either your innocence or guilt.

Carter & Clinton...and then there's dubbya!

"A tireless champion for social justice"

James Earl Carter
As president of the United States, Jimmy Carter was deeply committed to social justice and basic human rights.   He and his wife Rosalynn left the White House in search of meaningful ways to contribute in these areas.   In addition to promoting peace and human rights through the nonprofit Carter Center in Atlanta, they lead the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project for Habitat for Humanity International one week each year.

"The mission of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is to turn ideas into action."

William Jefferson Clinton
Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges.   CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 150 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media.

Then there's dubbya... ...the budding artist!
Mission Accomplished!

The Opiate of the Masses!

None of this makes any sense to me.   It never will!   Never!

I've been to hell again and this time it's the Emergency Room!

Friday started out as a good day.   On Thursday, endocrinologist calls to tell me I don't have diabetes.   I checked in with the urologist...and learned that I don't have prostate cancer (although he wants to do another prostate biopsy in 6 months)!   That exam is not a day at the beach...but given all the other good news...it's party time people!

So I go visit my oncologist.   Well not really the dude that's treating me...but one of his co-horts.   Nurse draws the blood and all the other stuff..temperature, blood pressure, etc.   Co-hort comes in 15 minutes later and asks the usual questions and tells me that all is well.   Good news...I was in and out of there in 40 minutes...a record!

I get home at 4:30pm.   An hour later...co-hort calls and wants me to go to the hospital for an EKG and other tests.   Why...because my potassium level is elevated (5.9) and she's concerned!   My response..."it's Friday at 5:15pm...can't I do this on Monday"?   Her response..."if I thought this could wait until Monday...I would not have called you tonight"!!!

  • 5:30pm - depart home
  • 6:00pm - arrive at hospital and "sign in".   Told to sit in the waiting area.
  • 6:35pm - my name is called.   "Come with me".
  • 6:40pm - Take an EKG, temperature & blood pressure (127 over 84)
  • 6:50pm - Escorted to a gurney in the emergency room hallway because all the "rooms" are occupied.
  • 7:05pm - "Administrator" interviews me to collect all the relevant data, medical history, HIPPA stuff, insurance etc.   Says he's going on a break.
  • 7:20pm - Nurse dashes by me (I'm still in the hallway) and tells me...she'll "be right back to draw blood".
  • 7:45pm - "Blood" nurse is back and draws blood.   "We'll have result in an hour"
  • 7:55pm - Another nurse comes to take my blood pressure (now 120 over 81...not bad!)
  • 8:05pm - Doctor shows up.   Asks questions...ie..."why am I here"?.   I tell him the my oncologist co-hort told me to come here...TONIGHT!   Doctor tells me that once he gets the blood results, he'll get back to me.
  • 9:00pm - Doctor tells me all is ok.   EKG was cool and potassium was 4.8 versus the 5.9 (that caused oncologist co-hort concern).   Also suggests that I contact my internist...because two of the prescriptions that I take are known to elevate potassium levels!!!
  • 9:30pm - Arrive back home!
EKG, blood tests, emergency room!   God only knows how much this is gonna cost!   I know...better safe than sorry.   I shouldn't complain.  But still...avoid an emergency room at any cost...unless you're bleeding or have a gunshot wound!

Lil Buck?   Lil WHO???

Just saw this dude on the Stephen Colbert show.   First time I ever saw him.   I was incredibly impressed.   Have I been hiding under a rock?   As the young folks say...his dancing is "sick"!

Check out his one minute video for GAP.   Awesome!

So of course I had to check out Wikipedia!

"Lil Buck is an American dancer. He was the artist in residence at the 2011 Vail International Dance Festival. Lil Buck has performed with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the United States and in China at the U.S.-China Forum on the Arts and Culture."

"Sick" indeed!

DJesus Unchained!   The "d" is silent!

This is gonna piss off a lot of people!   Not me!   Good SNL take on spoofing "Django Unchained"!

John McCain versus Chuck Hagel

Folks thought this dude should have been President of the United States! What sickens me more is that he dragged dumb-*ss Sarah Palin on to the political stage!   Almost 47% of Americans thought that Mrs. Palin should have been Vice President of the United States!

But I digress.   Back in his 2000 Presidential Campaign, Mr. McCain thought that Chuck Hagel would be an excellent candidate for Secretary of Defense...but that was over twelve years ago!

Hagel and Senator John McCain were close friends until 2007 when they diverged regarding Iraq policy.   In November 2007, Hagel rated the Bush administration "the lowest in capacity, in capability, in policy, in consensus - almost every area" of any presidency in the last forty years.   Hagel did not endorse McCain for President in 2008 in the primaries or the general election. When Hagel was nominated for Secretary of Defense just a few weeks ago, McCain said he had "serious concerns" about Hagel's positions on national security issues.

I'm so sick of this sh*t!   I really am.   I hope America wakes up to this bullsh*t!   I really do...but I'm afraid they won't!

Religion & the Texas Boy Scouts

What really saddens me most about all this (8 Minute video) is the number of youngsters that participated in this hatred.   Some of these kids look to be seven or eight years old!   I'm not surprised by any of this.   Instill hatred and prejudice in the young!   Texas is already on my list...and Texans, in general, are believers!   I have a few good froends residing in Texas and I'm sure that they don't subscribe to this bullsh*t!   At least I hope they don't!

God rewards athletes who have faith!

To say that I'm speechless...is putting it mildly!   God rewards athletes who have faith with good luck and success?   God plays a role in determining which team wins a sporting event?   After reading this post, from the Public Religion Research Institute, I read an article by Nate Silver in the Sunday Times.   As you may recall, Mr. Silver accurately predicted the 2012 Presidential election by state and called it correctly on all 50 states!

But I digress.   Here's an excerpt of Mr. Silver's article as posted in the magazine section of today's New York Times!

"Does defense win championships? Stat-geek sports fans like me tend to distrust this old saying.   Scoring a point helps just as much as allowing one hurts.   Of the 92 teams to have played in the Super Bowl before this year, I identified those with the 20 best defensive and offensive ratings.   The best defensive teams have compiled a 14-6 record (.700) in the Super Bowl. Their winning percentage is actually nearly 80 percent when you ignore the three cases, Super Bowls IV, VIII and XLV, when two of the all-time great defensive teams faced each other."

Mr. Silver goes on to say:
"The 20 best offensive teams, however, are just 10-10 in the Super Bowl."

I don't know the relative faith of the members of each team, the 49ers or the Ravens...nor do I THINK, as many Americans believe, that God will have an influence on the outcome of tonight's Super Bowl XLVII.

But then again...I don't know sh*t about football.   So just go with what you THINK...or what you BELIEVE!
