Benetton's UnHATE Campaign
Well...they've done it again and the Pope and the Catholic Church are really pissed! I think it's brilliant! The image of Benedict kissing Ahmed el Tayyeb, an Egyptian imam and a prominent figure in Sunni Islam, appeared on a banner which was draped over the side of a Renaissance stone bridge near the Vatican, in the center of Rome.
Unfortunately this particular shot only lasted a few days, because Benetton conceded to the powers that be at the Vatican and decided to no longer use the image as part of their unhate campaign. Benetton took down the banner.
The Vatican also went ballistic when Benetton used this priest/nun image in one of its' campaigns about 20 years ago.
I'm lovin' it! Awesome!
